Cutler J. ClevelandThe mission of the Metcalf Institute for Marine and Environmental Reporting is to promote clear and accurate reporting of scientific news and environmental issues. As part of Metcalf Institute's Improving Communication of Oil Spill Research (ICOSR) project, three scientists were asked to describe the major scientific questions that arose from the Deepwater Horizon oil spill. These videaos feature Dr. Christopher D'Elia of Louisiana State University, Dr. Steven Pennings of the University of Houston, and Dr. Claire Paris-Limouzy of the University of Miami. ICOSR is supported by a Rapid Response grant from the National Science Foundation.

The Grantham Prize is an annual $75,000 prize to recognize exceptional news coverage of the environment. The 2010 Grantham Prize Seminar honored winner Alanna Mitchell for her book Sea Sick: The Global Ocean in Crisis.
