Daniel Yergin (1947 - ) is an American economist widely regarded as one of the most influential authorities on the economics and politics of the international oil industry. He received the Pulitzer Prize for General Nonfiction for his work The Prize: The Epic Quest for Oil, Money and Power. The book became a national bestseller and was made into an eight-hour PBS/BBC series seen by 20 million people in the United States. The book documents the dominant role of oil in national and international politics, economics, war and environmental change. Yergin is Chairman of Cambridge Energy Research Associates in Cambridge, MA.
