Autumn graduated from the University of Kentucky with a dual degree in natural resource conservation and journalism. She tailored her education to her passion—bringing science to the public through writing and communicating the value of open spaces and healthy waterways.  She has been with AmeriCorps in Olympic National Park and worked for an environmental non-profit as a federal grants specialist. She has been managing editor for the Popular Farming Series, Hobby Farms and Hobby Farm Home—national publications geared toward small farmers, and also a field technician for a fire ecology project in the southern Appalachians.
