John Callewaert is the director of the Office of Research for the University of Michigan-Flint.  John’s primary responsibilities include facilitating the initiation of sponsored research, promoting faculty development, coordinating the Office of Research, and supporting the campus Institutional Review Board.  In addition, John is a lecturer in the Earth and Resource Science Department at UM-Flint.  John earned a B.S. from Michigan State University and his Ph.D. from the School of Natural Resources and Environment at UM–Ann Arbor.  Prior to joining UM–Flint, John was the director of the Institute for Community and Environment at Colby-Sawyer College and an Associate Professor of Social Sciences and Education. Areas of interest include environmental sociology, environmental justice, environmental ethics, and environmental policy.
