Philip Nyhus is an Assistant Professor of Environmental Studies at Colby College, USA, where he teaches courses in Environmental Policy and GIS. His interdisciplinary research bridges the natural and social sciences to address human interactions with the environment. He is particularly interested in human-wildlife conflict and endangered species conservation. His current research addresses tiger and large mammal conservation in Asia and the United States. He has published over 20 scholarly articles and book chapters and is currently co-editing Tigers of the World: The Biology, Politics, and Conservation of Panthera tigris. He received his M.S. and Ph.D. in Land Resources from the Nelson Institute for Environmental Studies at the University of Wisconsin—Madison. From 1999 to 2001 he was a National Science Foundation Award for the Integration of Research and Education postdoctoral fellow at Colby College and from 2001 to 2004 he was Assistant Professor of Environmental Studies at Franklin and Marshall College, USA.
