Dr. Farber is director of the Environmental Management and Policy program and co-director of the Environmental Decision Support program at the University of Pittsburgh. His research interests include valuation of natural systems, the role of economics in watershed management, and the economics of coastal wetlands. He has recently completed projects on the economic importance of barrier islands to coastal Louisiana, the economic value of rails-to-trails, and the value of improving stream quality. He is working with a team of ecologists on a project at the National Center for Ecological Analysis and Synthesis to value natural systems at large scales.
