Susanne Jakobsen has worked in environmental policy in government, non-profit and research organizations for the last 15 years. She has developed an interest and expertise in environmental policy tools and governance approaches, as well as environmental indicators, public reporting, and engagement. More recently, she has been interested in exploring how governments, private industry and non-profits can partner to promote innovation and use of clean technologies.

Susanne earned a Ph.D. in Political Science from the University of Copenhagen in 1999 with a dissertation looking at domestic decision-making on the global issue of climate change. Her dissertation was based on 6 months of interviews with people in media, environmental groups and government officials in India and Brazil. In the years prior, Susanne took part in the establishment of the Green Information Centre (later renamed Centre for Environment and Health) in Copenhagen, where she wrote fact-sheets and designed pamphlets for the public. Since relocating to Canada, she has been working as a policy adviser for governments in Canada.
