User Profile
I am a Doctor of agriculture from the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences who has been trained as agronomist, administrator and ecological economist and involved in many research projects addressing environmental and sustainability problems since 1986. The evolutionary processes typical of ecological and social systems makes it necessary to understand sustainability as dynamic development processes that integrate ecological, natural and societal knowledge through changes in policy, technology, organisation and behaviour. In addressing agricultural sustainability I pursue a framework of agriculture coevolving, or interactively developing/changing, with surrounding ecological and socioeconomic systems, and achieving sustainable agriculture requires keeping this interaction largely within rural-urban domain and influencing short and long term processes that change the subsystems of demand, policy, prices, knowledge, technology and value or preferences.
