Biography:

Dr. Mbobi Emmanuel was born January 14th 1956, in Banso, Republic of Cameroon, in West Africa. He attended Mbingo Baptist Elementary School and Belo Baptist Elementary School. After completion in 1970/1971, he enrolled at Longla Commercial College, Bamenda which is the provincial capital of the Northwest Province of Cameroon. He graduated in 1976 obtaining two sets of diplomas, the General Certificate of Education Ordinary Level, and the Royal Society of Arts, London certificates.

Emmanuel taught shorthand and physical geography at Longla Commercial College from 1976 to 1979, when he jointed the staff of a local bank called Banque L’internationale pour le Commerce et L’industrie du Cameroon (BICIC). He worked with the bank as a teller and as a loans processing officer from 1979 to 1985.

Emmanuel left for the United States of America in 1985 to attend his undergraduate studies at Lock Haven University of Pennsylvania. He graduated in 1989 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Geography.

After that he enrolled at the University of Toledo, Toledo Ohio, where he graduated in 1992 with an MA degree in Geography. That same year in the fall he enrolled at Kent State University Ohio, where he studied and graduated in 2000 with a PHD in Geography.

Emmanuel taught at Austin Peay State University from 1998 to 2001 and moved to Kent State University, Stark Campus where he taught from 2001 to 2008.

Emmanuel is currently working with the Geography Division of the United States Department of Commerce in the Census Bureau in Suitland Maryland.

Emmanuel is married to Jennie Mbobi and has 8 children.
