I am presently an Associate Professor in the Department of Environment and Resource Studies and the Director of the Environment and Business Program at the University of Waterloo (UW).

Prior to arriving at UW in January 1998, I worked at the UNEP Collaborating Centre on Energy and Environment in Roskilde, Denmark as an energy planner (October 1996 to November 1997). Before that, I was a lecturer at the London School of Economics and Political Science, where I was based in both the International Relations Department and the Development Studies Institute (October 1991 to September 1996).

My Bachelor's degree is in Applied Science and Engineering from the University of Toronto, where I specialized in Engineering Science (chemical engineering). I then moved to the United Kingdom, where I first completed a Diploma in International and Comparative Politics at the London School of Economics (LSE), and then a Doctorate at the LSE while based in the International Relations Department.
