Biography:
Irene Petrosillo is currently research assistant at the Laboratory of Landscape Ecology, Department of Biological and Environmental Sciences and Technologies, University of Salento (Lecce, Italy). Her main research activities regard the assessment of ecosystem services, the evaluation of the effectiveness of conservation policies and environmental management and adaptive management by the integration of stakeholders’ perception with the traditional objective assessments.
She received her Ph.D. in Basic Ecology from the University of Salento in 2005 with a dissertation on the fragility of tourism-based social-ecological systems on the basis of human pressures and social-environmental sensitivities.

Currently her teaching activities regard two courses, the first on Environmental Impact Assessment at the Bachelor Course on Environmental Sciences and Technologies and the second on Strategic Environmental Assessment at the Master Course on Eco-Management Certification. She acted as tutor for several bachelor, master and Ph.D. thesis.

Irene received her degree in Biological Sciences from the University of Salento in 2000.

She is the author of several publications on ISI journals and she is the lead author of a book published in 2008 by Springer on “Use of Landscape Sciences for the Assessment of Environmental Security”.
