Dr. Joseph Priest's scholarly activities involve physics education. He is a Professor in the Department of Physics at Miami University, Ohio and author of four editions of Energy: Principles, Problems, Alternatives, published by Addison-Wesley Publishing Co., and co-author of University Physics, published by Academic Press Inc. Both publications are used in courses at Miami University and have been adopted widely throughout the United States. Dr. Priest has helped pioneer the use of personal computers in physics education. He has developed computer-based instructional material to accompany University Physics and, along with John Snider in the Department of Physics at Miami University, has published Electronics for Physics Experiments to accompany the sophomore physics course that teaches students the techniques of interfacing physics experiments to personal computers. This course has received wide recognition at professional meetings and in professional journals. He received his Ph.D. from Purdue University in 1960.
