Dr. Linda Kalof is Professor of Sociology and Professor of Community, Agriculture, Recreation & Resource Studies at Michigan State University, with research areas in the cultural representations of humans and other animals and the links between culture and nature. Her recent books include Looking at Animals in Human History, The Earthscan Reader in Environmental Values, A Cultural History of Animals in Antiquity (Forthcoming 2007), and The Animals Reader: The Essential Classic and Contemporary Writings. She edits two multi-volume book series, A Cultural History of the Human Body and A Cultural History of Animals (a six volume book series on the history of the relationship between humans and other animals) and Human Ecology Review, an academic journal that publishes theory and research on human-environment interactions. Dr. Kalof has published widely in the sociology of gender, visual sociology and animal studies, and she is listed in Who’s Who in America, Who’s Who in the World, Who’s Who of American Women and the Directory of American Scholars.
