Biography:

Peter Dickey is the President of P.S. Dickey Consultants Ltd., established in 1994, and is also an associate of the International Institute of Sustainable Development (IISD).

Dickey graduated from Queen's University in 1966 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering. From 1966 to 1994, Dickey worked for Shell Canada in a number of engineering positions involving refinery and oilsands facilities design, operations and maintenance. He also coordinated the company’s energy conservation efforts in the mid 70's. Between 1982 and 1994, he was corporate manager of Safety and Environment. During this time he became deeply involved with both sustainable development and global climate change.

Dickey has provided consulting services to industry and governments in the areas of sustainable development, global climate change and environment and safety management systems. He has had significant involvement in the development of domestic and international offsets, emission trading and JI/CDM. He has been involved in the formation of a number of multi-stakeholder groups related to climate change including, the Economic Instrument Collaborative, the Greenhouse Emissions Management Consortium and the Canadian Early Emission Reduction Program.
