Mr. Rivera is a geologist with a passion for exploration and sustainable development. As a Project Manager for Tetra Tech, Inc (an engineering and environmental consulting firm),he conducts Environmental Impact Statements and Remediation Studies, and assists the government and privatesector in Environmental Management System (EMS) implementation.
Originally from Costa Rica, Mr. Rivera's career started in the early 1990's as an exploration geologist. His interests later shifted towards environmental geology and a systematic approach to pollution prevention which he had the opportunity to implement all over Central America.
He occupied various positions as an environmental and health and safety manager for mining, pharmaceutical and other companies, and assisted the Environmental Minister of Costa Rica evaluating and auditing a variety of industries and projects.
Over the years he taught courses in environmental project evaluation at various public and private universities, and published an environmental management system implementation manual for the tourism industry in Costa Rica.
