Stephen Morse is a Reader in Development Studies at the University of Reading, United Kingdom. His research and teaching revolve around issues of Sustainable Human Development, including the development and use of indicators and indices of sustainable development, institutional sustainability and natural resource management.

Steve is an author of 11 books including Indices and Indicators in Development: An Unhealthy Obsession with Numbers (Earthscan: London). He is a Fellow of the Royal Geographical Society (FRGS), a Member of the Institute of Biology (MIBiol CBiol) and a member of the Development Studies Association.
