Dr. Shamsuddin Shahid is working as an Associate Professor in the Faculty of Civil Engineering, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM), Malaysia since June 2011. He has more than 17 years of teaching and research experiences in hydrology and water resources in different countries like Bangladesh, India, Thailand, Malaysia, South Africa and Germany. He obtained his PhD in hydrogeology from Indian Institute of Technology-Kharagpur, India in 2001. He did his postdoctoral research in Friedrich-Schiller University of Jean-Germany under Alexander von Humboldt Fellowship Program. He also worked as a researcher in Asian Institute of Technology (AIT)-Thailand and Rhodes University-South Africa. He started is research career as a Scientist in Bangladesh Space Research and Remote Sensing Organization (SPARRSO) in 1995. He joined Rajshahi University of Bangladesh in 2000 as an Assistant Professor. He worked there until leaving Bangladesh for higher research in 2005. He joined University of Malaya (Malaysia) as a Senior Lecturer in 2009 and worked there until joining UTM in 2011. His main research interests are Climate Variability and Changes, Climate Change Impacts on Hydrological Processes and Water Resources, Water Resources Management, Groundwater Hydrology, Hydrological Data Analysis and Modeling, and Hydrological Hazard Risk Mapping. He is the author of over 30 research articles in internationally reputed journals including Climatic Change, Hydrological Processes, Natural Hazards, International Journal of Climatology, Climate Research, International Journal of Remote Sensing, etc. He also authored a book on groundwater hydrology. He is member of many professional bodies working on hydrology and water resources.
