Arnold Bloom, in accordance with his name, is a botany professor. After receiving an undergraduate degree in Physics from Yale University, he spent several years developing computer models of the spread of air pollution over cities in the USA and Germany. Sometime after the K-T boundary, he obtained a Ph.D. in Biological Sciences from Stanford University, conducted post-doctoral research at the University of Alaska Fairbanks, joined the faculty of the University of California at Davis, and became a member of the Editorial Board of the Encyclopedia of Earth. He studies the effects of rising atmospheric CO2 levels on plants and has authored textbooks on Plant Physiology, Plant Mineral Nutrition, and Global Climate Change.

Jen Hammock is co-chair of the Editorial Board of the Encyclopedia of Earth. Jen is a lapsed chemist and a biologist and data-wrangler. Her PhD work was in sensory biology, from the MIT/WHOI Joint Program. She is now a project manager for the Encyclopedia of Life (EOL). She came to the board through collaborative work between the EoE and EOL.

Andrew Jorgensen is co-chair of the Editorial Board of the Encyclopedia of Earth and an Associate Professor of Chemistry and Environmental Sciences at the University of Toledo. He specializes in science education with a particular interest in climate change. He spent a sabbatical at the National Council of Science and the Environment and continues as a Senior Fellow at NCSE. Andy earned a Ph.D. in Physical Chemistry from the University of Illinois at Chicago and a B.S. in Chemistry from Quincy University. He completed a postdoctoral appointment in chemical education at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.

Ida Kubiszewski is a member of the Editorial Board of the Encyclopedia of Earth. Ida received her B.A. in Astronomy and Physics from Boston University. She went on to receive her M.A. in Energy and Environmental Analysis through BU's Center for Energy and Environmental Studies. While working on her Masters, she co-founded the Encyclopedia of Earth and was the Assistant Editor for the project.

Emily Monosson is a member of the Editorial Board of the Encyclopedia of Earth. She is a member of the Ronin Institute for Independent Scholarship and holds an Adjunct faculty position in the Department of Environmental Conservation at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst. Her most recent book is Natural Defense:Enlisting Bugs and Germs to Protect Our Food and Medicine (Island Press.) She earned an M.S. and Ph.D. from Cornell University and a B.S. from Union College.

Michael Pidwirny is a member of the Editorial Board of the Encyclopedia of Earth. He is an Associate Professor at University of British Columbia, Okanagan campus in the Department of Earth, Environmental and Geographic Sciences. He is currently researching the impact of human caused climate change on ski resorts in North America and Europe. He has published two online e-books titled Physical Geography Glossary of Terms and Understanding Physical Geography that are available from Google Play and Amazon.

Dr. Peter Saundry is a member of the Editorial Board of the Encyclopedia of Earth. Dr. Saundry is an Adjunct Professor of Energy at Johns Hopkins University, and a Senior Fellow of the National Council for Science and the Environment (NCSE), where he served for many years as the Executive Director. He holds a Ph.D. in Physics from the University of Southern California. He was a co-founder the Encyclopedia of Earth.
