Sustainable landscaping refers to a collection of practices that may be applied to landscape design, installation, and management to address envirronmental and social issues. These issues include impacts related to water pollution issues, soil contamination, use of non-renewable resources, energy consumption, and effect of urban development on wildlife habitat. A particular emphasis is placed upon maximizing use of native plants and avoidance of application of chemical herbicide and pesticide substances.
